YOUNG BACKS MARTIAL OVER DESCHAMPS

Anthony Martial did not go to last year’s World Cup because according to reports, France coach Didier Deschamps had deemed his involvement with Manchester United that season insufficient.

He didn’t feature enough and predictably Jose Mourinho go dragged into it for not once again, giving youth “a chance”.

With the World Cup 2022 around the corner plus the Euro 2020, Martial’s performance so far this season has made him and many comfortable that never again will he miss a top tournament.

On Monday, Didier Deschamps released the list of players he invited for the latest international break and somehow, Martial’s name was missing.

United wing-back Ashley Young believes Deschamps couldn’t be more wrong citing that Martial’s presence is the major reason United has ticked anytime they did this season.

The former Monaco man was handed the no. 9 shirt and given the mandate to lead the Red Devil’s attack upon RomeluLukaku’s sale to Inter Milan and as far as stats show, flourished in the role whenever fit.

With 5 goals in 9 games, his ability to hold up play, Didier Deschamps still deemed him not worthy enough to play against the likes of Albania and Moldova.

Making one wonder how he will even let Martial play against the actual European giants when his team qualifies for next year’s Euros.

For Young, the linkage between Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial has proved that he has improved a lot and is capable of being paired with any forward Deschamps calls up.

Martial is not the only young lad that has stepped up for United this season. Brandon Williams has been particularly good in all the matches he has played so far. He has also made it possible for United to forget about Ashley Young’s absence due to injury and question if Luke Shaw is even needed at the club anymore.
